1/48 Hasegawa Bf-109 E4/B

Gallery Article by Mike Forsythe

This E4/B of JG53 'Pik As' during the fall of 1940. This plane uses markings from Aeromaster, and a cockpit tub from KMC. The wheels are True Details resin items if
memory serves me.  Also, I replaced the MG's and cannons with resin parts from Aires and CMK. The paint scheme is 70/71/65, all using Gunze acrylics.

Weathering was done using Winsor & Newton watercolors + pastels.  The methodology for application and removal is 100 % identical to the technique used in the chlak pastel panel line article in the ARC Tools n Tips section, except that I used Winsor & Newton Watercolours. Just a bit out of the tube and some tap water.  Just the barest amount of moisture was required to remove the excess colour. It was tedious as heck but it produces good results.  I used Tamiya Flat for a final sealer.

Enjoy the photos.
