1/48 Tamiya P-51D "Sweet Arlene"

Gallery Article by Stu George on Apr 30 2010

This is my first submission to ARC, but with my firstborn on the way and my man cave soon to become a nursery I figured it was about time to try a submission!  I used the wonderful Tamiya P-51 kit adding only Eduard's photo-etch interior.  I decided to use Pyn-Up's "Sweet Arlene" decals as I just loved how the red nose looked on the NMF.  Painting was done with Alclad polished aluminum, dull Aluminum, dark aluminum and Tamiya acrylics.

After applying the decals I decided against any weathering aside from a light oil wash in the panel lines.  I was too impressed with Pyn-up's work on the nose art to cover it up with exhaust.  So a little artistic license on the weathering, but hey, there's always the next one....right?  With a little one on the way I have only a few more weeks until I have to close shop for a while and if this is indeed the last kit I finish before Dad-time, I am very happy with the results.

Happy modeling to all!.
