In 1979 the Ejército del Aire Reino de España purchased three Fokker F-27 MK 400 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) new from the Dutch Fokker Factory in the Netherlands.

These were D2-01/D2-02/D2-03. After more than thirty years of loyal service they are still in operational use today. Based at Gando Air Base Las Palmas Island (Canary Islands). Used for SAR, Fishery protection, Shipping Control, Coast Guard duties in general.

As mentioned above, they are operated by the Air Force.

THE KIT:
Very basic model from the former ESCI company.  I built the model out of box.  With the interior included, like a galley (Kitchen) it gave some pressure to get it closed.  Miliput did the rest.  The basecoat was silver. After filling the cracks for the second and third time it was ready for the final coat.  This was blue/grey underside and wings, with white top.  All colors were Xtra-Color.  The Revell Master Class Airbrush finished it off in a nice layer.  Decals were out of the box and worked excellent in the Microscale Set and Sol.  For protection I sprayed the model with a mixture of 70% Ethanol and 30% Glitsa parquet lacguer.

The Fokker Factory is no longer around.  It must have been a good product, because the F-27's are still flying around world wide.
