After
reading and researching many other submissions on ARC, I felt I was comfortable
enough to create one of my own. I decided on my recently completed 1/48 scale
MiG-29A by Academy.

I
selected the decal markings of the Serbian Air Force by Lift Here!
Decals. The markings represent aircraft no. 18101 from the 101st Fighter
Squadron of the 204th Air Brigade based at Batajnica Air Base. I also decided to
tune this kit up quite a bit by adding the resin kits of the cockpit, wheel bays
and exhaust nozzles by Aires and the correct radome and sensors by Quickboost.
The cockpit set and wheel bays took a bit of patience
to assemble into the frame and I had to Dremel a portion of the cockpit
(the avionics display) but it all fit perfectly in the end. The smaller parts in
the wheel bay kit (doors and actuators) took a lot of tweezer work but fit very
well. I used Floquil primer and ModelMaster's (MM) Light Ghost Grey and
Gunship Grey for the two tone camouflage. The wheel bays are MM Light Grey and
the wheel hubs MM Interior Green. The ordinance pylons are MM Light Grey
and MM Medium Grey. For the panel lines I used a wash of black acrylic
paint mixed with water. In between phases it was sealed with MM Gloss Coat and
the final coat was MM Flat Coat.
I poured all my available skill into this kit and
learned a few new tricks along the way but either way I am pleased with the
final result.
