Nakajima Ki 43 II Hayabusa tail code S-42, Indonesian Air Force 1947

Hayabusa means " eagle", this plane was nearly wrecked when Japanese surrendered to Allied in 1945 and Indonesia proclaimed independence in 17 august 1945. Indonesian founding fathers established People Security Army or TKR with air force division in it. With lack of plane and pilot, Air Force with its best men like Adisutjipto, Halim PK and Soerjadi Soerjadarma tried to build a capable air force unit to defend the young country from Dutch reoccupation effort in politionale actie 1. This hayabusa planed to escort gunteis and churen or willlow ex Japan. Indonesian Air Force bombing raid to Semarang central java from Maguwo Jogja airfield. But in D Day 29 Juli 1947 night, hayabusa still troubled with its engine. Bambang Saptoaji (hayabusa pilot) very upset with this, he want to escort his friends to fight and proved the world that Indonesian Air Force could chalenge Dutch ML lucvaart to defend its independence. The S-42 tail code hayabusa didnt flied that day, but day by day after that it will be an eagle guardian as the motto of Indonesian Air Force "swa bhuana paksa" or wing of nation. These kit dedicated to Indonesia our pride nation, our heroes and former founding fathers, happy veteran day and independence day to Indonesia.

I used the 1/48 kit from Hasegawa. It was build straight from box except Indonesia flag and tail number decals.

I painted with tamiya acrilyc paints, IJA Green mix with buff and flat aluminium for main body and light blue for oil tanks.
