Revell's P-61 is of course better known as the almost legendary Monogram kit. Revell keeps releasing these now somewhat dated kits and I thank them for that. At the time the pinnacle of scale model production but now, of course, somewhat outdated. The age of the molds is
obvious but I thoroughly enjoyed building this classic.

One problem with this kit is of course the raised panel lines. I took the opportunity to test my skills of rescribing an entire kit. It took me a while but in the end the result is satisfactory. Added detail is minimal and is limited mostly to seat harnesses.
The other skill I trained while building this kit is airbrushing. I recently acquired an airbrush and used the P-61 as a training tool. The colours are mostly Italeri acrylics, starting with a ghost grey base and olive topcoat. I even tried
pre-shading. After a thin coat of gloss I applied the decals, sealing it with a matt varnish. Overall I'm satisfied. It's not my best kit but as a training exercise it was a success.
