This model is an Hasegawa 1/72 Russian Air Force Su-27 from
the box number 00905. I decided to show this bird with the
"late" newly paint scheme from 1st aerial squadron 234th Guardian
Aviation Regiment acrobatic group Russian Knights based at Kubinka AB near
Moscow. This special scheme represents bird board numbers 05 from 28th
productional number in May 2010. I used decals from the box plus from the
brand Begemot 72-027 which is very accurate regarding badges, tails
decorations, advertising stickers and all small markings. Color red and white
bands are not easy to fit on curved surfaces. I followed HASEGAWA
& Begemot instructions regarding colors and I used a specific
Russian knights painting kit from the Fino Russian brand AKAH number 47231.
Acrylic paints are very accurate but fragile, dark top blue 73148, white 73149,
red 73150, underside and tails blue 73147, interior blue 73069. This kit is an
enhanced with photo etch from the box (cockpit HUD, panels and mirrors,
fuselage grids and engines details). Engines are painted with a lot of different
enamel metalic colors to show all different panels and petals.

I show the bird with some wings and fuselage empty pylons as used
during demonstration. I show the canopy opened to see the cockpit interior. I
added a fin metal tube for the 30mm gun GSh-301 and light weathering at gun
panels. The rest of the plane was very clean at this period regarding the fresh
new camo paint scheme. It was a pleasure to build a so attractive and
decorated plane and very big even in 1/72 scale.
