1/48 AMT Henschel 129

Gallery Article by Ian Bunting

My name is Ian Bunting, I am 15 years old and I live in Ontario, Canada.  I have been building models since I was 10 but recently I started again.  My Dad has been building for long time and has had models shown on this site before.  He suggested that I submit this one.

This is the AMT Henschel 129.  I bought it at a model flea market because I liked the big gun.   I built it with the wheels up because I like the way planes look when flying.  My Dad had an idea for the stand which you can see in the photos.  I built the model myself, my Dad showed me how to do the camouflage masking on another model and then I copied him.  I used a Tamiya Sprayworks airbrush and Aeromaster acrylic paints.  The decals are from the kit.

The stand is built from a pine base that was bought at a art supply store.  I stained it; put the railroad grass on it.  I then drilled a hole for the brass square tubing which was mounted using epoxy.  I drilled a hole in the end of the wing of the plane and expoxied a smaller piece of brass tubing into it; I left about 2cm of tubing sticking out from the wing.  The model was then mounted by sliding the smaller piece attached to the model into the piece on the stand.  At first the model kept falling over, so I bent the tubing on the stand until the model stood upright.  I covered the brass tub with railroad bushes attached with white glue.

I hope you like it!
