D.H Chipmunk Royal Malaysian Air Force

Background
The D.H Chipmunk was one of the pioneers in Malaysian Military flying. The Chipmunks served with the Royal Malaysian Auxiliary Air Force. All RMAAF aircraft had 10 point stars in the national markings to represent then the 10 states in the Federation of Malaysia. The Chipmunks were used to train pilots and only saw a short service life with the air force.  It was replaced by the Percival Provost which took over the task of training pilots in the newly established flying school when the Royal Malaysian Air Force was formed.

The Kit
This is the 1/72 offering by Airfix. It was a very easy build as there was nothing much to put together. It was finished in Revell colours. Sliver for the airframe and Flat Black was used for the anti glare portion in the front of the cockpit. Decals were custom made by me. It was weathered with water color washes. Some paint chipping and dry brushing were applied here and there to further show the aircraft as used. I also added a pilot figure to cover up the sparse cockpit details. Panel lines were also filled in with pencil.

This is dedicated to all the pioneer aviators in Malaysian military history. Thank you.
