1/72 Pioneer-2 YAK-15

--------------------

The Yak-15 was an early Soviet jet fighter, built by modifying a Yak-3 piston-engine fighter with a copy of the German Jumo 004 jet engine.  This same basic configuration became the pattern for a series of early Soviet jets, until the MiG-15 entered service in the early 1950s.

This was a very simple model kit given to the Baghdad Hobby Club by an unknown donor.  Unfortunately I had a clear-coat disaster, and what was meant to be a one-night fun project turned into an ordeal.  I sanded and repainted and replaced the destroyed decals from spares.  (The number "13" reflects the luck I was having...)  The red cheat lines are creative embellishment on my part -- I've no reason to think a real Yak-15 ever had them, or had this specific set of markings.  But I like the way it looks.
