1/48 Dragon Me 262 Mistel

This is Dragon's new Me 262 Mistel kit. I built it out of the box, only adding wiring, hydraulic lines, a Verlinden resin seat, and Eduard photo etched rudder pedals. I used the kit decals, along with Swastikas from a Trimaster Me 262 sheet.

The unmanned "bomb" aircraft is painted in Alcad II Aluminum, Duraluminum, and Dark Aluminum. The putty lines were painted with a #000 brush, using Model Master enamel Neutral Gray. Some panels were finished with Testors Dullcoat.

The manned "control" aircraft was painted freehand, using Model Master enamel RLM 76, 81, 82, and 83. The nose gun package is painted in a different scheme to represent a replacement. It was finished with Model Master Metalizer Sealer, for a semi-gloss finish. The rest of the airframe received Testors Dullcoat. I used an enamel wash, mixing the base colors with black.

I added wiring to the rear of the instrument panel, using copper wire from a speaker cable. Hydraulic lines were added with micro solder.

This was an enjoyable project, and it really stands out, parked next to my other Trimaster Me 262s. There are fit problems associated with this kit, but none that can't be overcome with care and imaginative building sequences.
