Another
fine kit by TAMIYA, the Spitfire Vb is a delight to build. The one I have
included depicts a tropical version of the Vb, fitted with a Vokes filter, which
carries the markings of 229 Squadron. EP691 “X-A” which was operational from
Qrendi Malta back in 1942.

As
with most TAMIYA kits construction is very straight forward. The only
alterations made, were to the tail end, with the elevator and rudder in a more
life like position. Extra wiring and tubing were added to the cockpit tub. This
aircraft is fitted with a Mosquito propeller and a short spinner. Finally the
belts were made from masking tape with buckles made of fine wire.
The
model was finished using TESTORS and HUMBROL paints, and marked with dry prints.
