The Monogram 1:48 "Century
Series" kits are to my mind great value for money and some of the best kits
of these aircraft around. I know they have raised panel lines but the
general level of detail and sophistication is excellent. The F100-D kits
are good examples. Both of these were built out of the box, but I used
SuperScale decals for FW-000 of the 20th FW based at RAF Wethersfield in the
late 1950s.

The BMF is Halfords
"Nissan Silver" spray paint over grey primer, with some panels left as
primer and some painted with Humbrol "Metalcote". The whole is
polished using SNJ powder to give the varied metal panel shade effect. I
dry brushed the rear fuselage to try to get the burnt metal effect that is a
characteristic of these aircraft but feel that I could have done better.
The second aircraft is an F100-D
of the 308th TFS as based at Tuy Hoa AFB South Vietnam in 1968. The kit
decals were used in this instance over a brush painted SEA camouflage.
