This
is my fourth Panda kit of the UH-1-series. The kits have their shortcomings, but
with a little extra work it is possible to build nice Huey models.
I
wanted to do the UH-1N in the modern configuration as in use with the USMC and
on worldwide duty.
Unfortunately
there is no resin kit around so I had to build all those extra parts by myself.
To make exact copies I first built master parts and made resin copies.
I
added some extra detailing to the interior, specially to the nose section and
the instrument panel and added a visor for the pilot and a winch in the cargo
room.
The
winch, FLIR-turret and “disco-light” where stolen from a Academy MH-60, so
it was easy just to make the sockets.
Much
more work where all the parts needed to make the radar-warning and
countermeasure systems. I used the usual mix of plastic sheet, wire and
putty.
For
some more life I opened the stearboard doors and build the inside structure of
the doors from plastic sheet.
To
bring some colour to this grey helo I added the engine ang exhaust covers (acryic
putty) and fixed the rotors with straps of red painted masking tape.
Painting
was done with Gunze-paint and the decals are from the spare-box (Superscale and
TwoBobs).
The
weathering was done with a wash of oil colours and some pastel chalk.
I
hope, you like it
Thomas
