1/48 Hasegawa A6M2 Zero

--------------------

I built this 1/48th scale Hasegawa Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero (kit no 09143) to commemorate the anniversary of the Fall of Singapore in 1942. The Zero was built to showcase the opposition, as well as a companion to the Buffalo of 243 sqn. that I submitted with Mike.

The aircraft belonged to the IJNAF's 22nd Air Flotilla based in newly-occupied Indo-China. The Imperial Japanese Navy Air Force (IJNAF) was heavily involved in the assault on Singapore, beginning on the 8th of December 1941 to the 15th of February 1942.

The aircraft was built OOB using kit decals. I used Gunze paints throughout, the Ame-iro scheme was self mixed using 75% of H70, 20% of H52 and 10% of H11. While Mr.Color 125 was used for the cowling. The Hinomarus, identification bands (red and white) and the aircraft number were all masked and sprayed, doing away with the decals. Weathering was done with Pastels and soap.
