1/48 Special Hobby Barracuda Mk II

--------------------

This is my first contribution to this fine web site. I've enjoyed popping in to view all the models shown on this site on a regular basis. Since I am on holidays today, I thought I would attempt to submit a model I recently finished. I just got back into this hobby after many, many years, so I hope this model measures up to the excellent quality models shown on this site. The Barracuda has always been one of my favorite airplanes, just because it's so awkward looking. This Special Hobby Kit was my first multi media kit. The quality of the resin and etched parts is superb with absolutely no bubbles in the crisply molded resin parts.

With a little attention to detail, the fit of this kit was excellent and required very little filler. Some of the panel lines are a little light, so I spent several hours rescribing these lines and adding zuse connectors, especially around the engine cowl and control surfaces etc. All paint used was Humbrol. The weathering was done with oil wash and a little pastel.
