1/72 Hasegawa Me-262a

I'm not going to go into any history on this aircraft since it's pretty well covered in other places.

This model is one I built approximately 13 years ago now and was one of my first (if not ONLY) serious Luftwaffe WW II aircraft.  I had always liked the markings on the NASM's Me-262 they have on display and decided to build it like that one.

But oh how tough that camo was going to be!  Keep in mind that during the timeframe I built this model, specialized Luftwaffe paint colors were in their infancy if totally non-existant.  Using the Monogram Luftwaffe Painting Guide I mixed the colors from the old Polly S paint line and shot it through my Badger air-brush.  I don't think the finish came out great, but it seems acceptable.  The Hasegawa kit came with decals for this JG 7 bird, but I was not happy with their register or color... luckily M.S.A.P. had markings for this one and so I used them.  They were not great by any stretch, being similar to the old Matchbox decals, but they worked.

Curiously enough, I still have the paint I mixed for this project and it's still just as good as the day I mixed it.
