This
is my 1/32 Academy F/A-18C. Cutting Edge late cockpit set was used as well as
the Eduard placard set. The decals are from Two Bobs Thunderbolts and Vikings
sheet. Model was painted with Model Master enamels and acrylics. Weathering was
done with pastel chalks and water based poster paints.

I
tried to follow Ritchie’s method of painting as shown in the ARC forums. I’m
pleased with how it turned out. The footprints on the port LEX were made by
stamping the unused figures foot in a sludge colored thinned paint and then on
the walkway. I mixed the paint for the walkways with baby powder, then masked
and brushed it on to produce the textured “anti-slip” paint effect.
The
Cutting Edge cockpit is a must if you’re doing this kit. It is beautiful. I
used a type of confetti on the CRTs that will change color from blue to green
depending on the angle.

I
used kitchen foil for the exhausts. I boil the foil in a large pot of water with
crushed up eggshells. This produces the burnt metal effect. You can get
different shades by leaving the foil in for different times. I stole this
technique from Peter Doll. Check out his B-58 in the gallery.
Hope
you enjoy!
