Another Classic from Classic
Airframes. The Vampire served for quite a while in RNZAF before being replaced
by the Venoms for use in Malaya. Several survive in both static and flying
condition.

Construction was straightforward
but I did replace the intakes with the Aeroclub aftermarket ones as the
originals did not look right. This was mainly built in a hotel room in Shanghai
with few tools or bits so there are a few places below parr but hey, it was made
in China! I replaced the pitot with some wire (too thick) and lost both elevator
mass balances under the bed so these are wire as well. Paints by Tamiya and Mr
Colour. I had an unfortunate experience when removing the masking from the upper
surface, the tape pulled off the silver undercoat back to bare plastic hence the
patchy finish in places.
I used the Decals from the kit as
its great to find any NZ schemes.
Happy Waitangi day
to all the Kiwis around the world.
