1/48 AMTech/Tamiya Ta-183

The German Ta-183 Interceptor never flew in combat before Nazi Germany surrendered in WWII.

As compared with the Me-262, it was small in size with swept wings and fast speed for intercepting.  It was designed to carry four Air-to-air missiles in addition to its 4 X 30mm cannons.  It also was capable of carrying SD/SC 500 or BT-200 bomb, or RB-20/30 camera.

The concept of the Ta-183 was able to continue as the designer immigrated to Argentina in 1947 and further developed the 'Pulqui II'.  A total of 6 prototypes were built before the project wasdropped.  This unique design greatly inspired the development of jet fighters such as the well known Soviet Mig-15.

For the model, I won't say it is good but rare in market.  I was disappointed with its nose session and I had to drill a hole to make it looks realistic, I also drilled the cannon ports in addition. Other than these modifications, the fit was okay.  I bought the Tamiya kit which came with an NSU SdKfz 2 w/ driver & pilot figure.  When I fit it with the pilot figure, I realized that the pilot seat of the model was too short.  For fine tuning the outlook, I added wires to the back side of the panel of the cockpit and brake wires for front & rear wheels (based on my imagination).
