1/48 Tamiya Skyraider

--------------------

  Trinidad Independence Day

This is the Tamiya Navy Skyraider built mostly OOB with some limited use of the Eduard PE set- mainly in the cockpit and wheel wells. Construction was fairly straightforward, just a little care and attention was devoted to the upper wing/fuselage joint. I set the flaps to neutral and closed the speed brakes to depict a typical Skyraider on the ground. I also added some static wicks to the rudder, elevator and flaps.

I painted the model using Model Master Enamels- Gull Gray, White and used Stainless Steel Metalizer to stimulate the anti corrosive coating on the leading edges of the wings, tail and engine cowling. I chose to paint the prop tips vs. using the decals supplied. Exhaust staining was achieved using pastels and panel lines were accentuated with a gray acrylic wash.

Kit markings for VA-25 Fist of the Fleet were used. Reference photos of this aircraft showed a loadout with rocket pods and wing tanks only, so I opted for this. Thanks for looking.
