After building of the 1/350 CVN-65 I had a desire to build another aircraft carrier. This project is the CVN-76 USS Ronald Reagan. Italeri has released this model but not the detailed one, my friend told me the Trumpeter USS Nimitz 2005 have enough parts, such as radar, Mast and weapons can conversion to CVN-76!

Then I started to check out if it work.  From the Italeri CVN-76 kit I only used the island, radar, vehicles and some of the parts replaced the Trumpeter parts.

Then I had to do some conversion to make it more look like the CVN-76 Hull!

The main problem is fit the mast to island, it had to sand and dry fit it many times.  I used the Gold Medal photo etch to fill with the ship’s equipment, and railings.  Lucky all of the parts fit and look in harmony!
