---------------------------------
This decal sheet from Hi-Decal Line features 2 different F-84G Thunderjets. One is from the French Armee De l'Air and the second is from the Greek Royal Hellenic Airforce. | |||
The first plane is an F-84G-21RE Thunderjet with the French Armee De l'Air, B.A. Reims in 1953. This aircraft was also used by the "Patrouille de France" during the first presentation of the French Air Force aerobatic team held in Algeria in 1953. The paint scheme of this aircraft is overall matt aluminium with an Artic Red (FS 21136) tail and outermost part of the wings. There is a Black (FS 27038) nose and Black (FS 27038) stripes on the wings. There is also an Olive Green (FS 34087) anti-glare panel in front and behind the canopy. Interestingly enough there are some partial US national insignias on the underside and top side of the wings. The French national insignias come as 3 separate decals to insure perfect registration. On the outside of the wingtip fuel tanks are yellow/black arrows. This aircraft also has a crest type artwork below the canopy on both side of the fuselage. |

The second plane is an F-84G-16RE Thunderjet with the 340th Mira "Flying Foves", 111th Combat Wing of the Greek Royal Hellenic Airforce out of Nea Anhialos AFB in 1954. The paint scheme of this aircraft is overall matt aluminium with an Artic Red (FS 21136) tail and flying surfaces on the wings. There is a Polished Steel nose and Olive Green (FS 34087) anti-glare panel in front and behind the canopy. The wing tip fuel tanks have a black checkerboard pattern on them....these are supplied as decals.
All in all these are 2 brightly painted (red tails) F-84G's with non-US markings which is always a change of pace.
The decals are beautiful quality and I fully expect these decals will install and lay down beautifully. the colour are solid so there should be no bleed through of any underlying colours. the decals clear carrier film is trimmed very close to the coloured part of the decals, but because of the baremetal finish on these aircraft......you may want to consider trimming the clear carrier film from the numbers.
An excellent sheet and highly recommended for anyone wanting to add a Foreign Thunderjet to their model collection.
