This new colour bird from the
Royal Australian Air force has been hot news in modelling circles since
the first photos were released.
This new decal sheet (available in 1/32,1/48 and 1/72) from Model Alliance Group from their Premier Plus Range Decals focuses on this hot looking RAAF F/A-18A commemorating the 20th anniversary of the F/A-18 in RAAF service. The decals themselves are beautiful quality and very clearly printed on the 1/32 sample I have before me. Colours look solid and will cover very well, but the decals also don't appear overly thick. The decals are fairly straight forward once you get your model built and painted in the blue and grey scheme. Model Alliance has been through on this sheet and all 3 colours you need for painting including the radome Tan for the tip of the nose is listed in a variety of paint brands to make life easy for the modellers. |

| The paint scheme
is Gloss Oxford Blue on top and Light Ghost Gray on the underside and
Radome Tan on the tip of the nose
with the usual natural metal shades around the engine exhaust. There
are also black walk areas that are not included as decals, but I always
prefer to paint these myself. The decals are huge.....so make sure
you are prepared with everything you need.
The instruction sheets include helpful text describing how to paint the cockpit and with what colours. All necessary information about painting is included as well as FS Federal Standard numbers, Humbrol, Modelmaster and Xtracolour. I've got a big soft spot for aircraft in Aussie markings and I don't think I'm alone in that and this sheet is sure to be very popular with modellers around the world. The production run is limited, so don't delay if this sheet interests you. |
