This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for two different 1/48 PB4Y-2 's.

The first aircraft is a PB4Y-2 VPB-106 out of West Field, Tinian and Westbrook Field, Palawan, Philippine Islands 1945.  The paint scheme is Non Specular Blue on top, Intermediate blue on the sides of the fuselage and Non Specular white on the underside.  The artwork on the forward fuselage side is a full frontal view of a naked Native Indian Maiden in full feather head dress.  In front of the artwork is the red text "Redwing".  This aircraft also has Japanese flag kill markings.   The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.  On the side of the rear fuselage are the black  code letters "X 505".

The second aircraft is a  PB4Y-2 VPB-116 out of Imo Jima in March-June in 1945.

The paint scheme is Non Specular Blue on top, Intermediate blue on the sides of the fuselage and Non Specular white on the underside.  The artwork on the forward fuselage side is a full backside view of a naked blonde lady holding a playing card.  Above the artwork is the white text "Miss Sea-ducer"".  This aircraft also has Japanese flag kill markings.   The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.  On the side of the rear fuselage are the black  code letters "R 582".

The noseart decals are delicate and two are included for each plane in case you mess up the first ones.  Exacting instructions are included on how to prepare and install these decals…..read these instructions carefully to avoid disaster.  Apparently these noseart decals are very thin and need special care, but once installed they will look very accurate and realistic.  The nose art decals are printed on a one piece decal sheet, so you’ll need to cut the decal free from the rest of the decal film…..patience is the key here.  The noseart decal is beautifully printed with fantastic detail and lovely shading.

The instructions are clear and include 3 views of each aircraft and an extra page of text instructions  with a small bit of info about one of the planes as well as helpful tips for decal application.

A very nice decal sheet and  sure to please the lucky 300 people that manage to buy one of these limited edition sheets.
