Attack Squadron VA-37
The Bulls was established as an A-7A squadron in July 1966 and
became operational in December 1967 and had their first deployment
aboard the USS Kitty Hawk in 1969.
During their 30 year
history VA-37 deployed 19 times aboard 7 different aircraft
carriers, which included over 2500 missions over Vietnam during the
War. In 1984, VA-37 detached to Yechon, Korea, thus becoming
the first Navy aircraft squadron to deploy in field conditions since
World War II. In 1990, the Bulls were deployed in support of
Operation Desert Shield. On 31 October 1990, TEAM BULL flew
the last official sortie in the A-7E Corsair II. In November 1990
Attack Squadron 37 was officially redesignated Strike-Fighter
Squadron 37 and switched over to the F/A-18 Hornet in December
1990.
The Bulls continue to
serve with distinction.
