In 1955, VF 84 while deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, was redesignatedas the VA 86 "Sidewinders".

During 1979 the "Sidewinders" made news while deployed in the Indian Ocean spending 144 continuous days at sea following the seizure of the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran.

On July 15, 1986, Attack Squadron 86 was officially redesignated Strike-Fighter Squadron 86, and began flying the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet.

The Sidewinders continue to serve with distinction.

This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for 1 special A-7E Corsair II.

This aircraft is a A-7E with VA-86 Bulls.  BuNo159308 CAG on December 1975.

The paint scheme is pretty straight forward with FS 16440 on top and white FS 37875 on the underside with blue FS 15102 on the nose and top of the tail.  The markings are the highlight.  Tail and wing flying surfaces are white and on the tail is the orange and black sidewinder snake artwork with orange stripes on the wings and a large orange diamond on the top of the fuselage/wing area.

The decals were flawlessly printed and in perfect registration with good colour.

The instructions are clear and include colour drawings to assist in decal placement. There is also 1 pages of text including with helpful info on decal installation

This is a cool looking scheme of this classic jet and perfect if you're planning on building the big 1/32 Trumpeter A-7E and you have a passion for the Sidewinders.

I would like to thank Cutting Edge Modelworks for providing me with this review sample.
