AV-8B Super Harrier II Jammin' Jump Jets decal sheet

1/48 scale product #48148

--------------------

Here's a new release from Two Bobs that features markings for three complete jets from VMA-311, VMA-513 and VMA-211.  You get very colorful markings for a Harrier and the VMA-211 jet represents the very first Harrier to drop a JDAM in combat.

It's refreshing to see colourful markings on USMC Harriers instead of the lo-viz paint schemes that are so common these days.

If you're going to build one of these then Twobobs suggests the following kits and aftermarket detail items.

1/48th Scale
  • Hasegawa AV-8B Harrier II
  • Aires Accessories
  • Eduard Accessories
  • EZ Masks

The first jet is a AV-8B Harrier II Plus with VMA-513 BuNo. 165385 out of MCAS Yuma, AZ in April 2007.  This is the jet with the blue tail with a yellow lightning bolt on the rudder.  The rest of the aircraft is painted in Medium Gunship Gray FS 36118 on top and Dark Gull Gray FS36231 on the sides and Dark Compass Ghost Gray FS 36320 on the underside.

The second jet is a AV-8B Harrier II Plus with VMA-311 BuNo. 165397 out of MCAS Yuma, AZ in April 2007.  This is the jet with the black tail with a red text on the tail.  The rest of the aircraft is painted in Medium Gunship Gray FS 36118 on top and Dark Gull Gray FS36231 on the sides and Dark Compass Ghost Gray FS 36320 on the underside.

The third jet is a AV-8B Harrier II Plus with VMA-211 BuNo. 165582 out of MCAS Yuma, AZ in April 2007.  This is the jet that performed the first combat JDAM Drop bya  Harrier.  The rest of the aircraft is painted in Medium Gunship Gray FS 36118 on top and Dark Gull Gray FS36231 on the sides and Dark Compass Ghost Gray FS 36320 on the underside.

The 2 pages of color instruction sheets include 4 view color drawings of all three jets showing camo patterns and decal placement.  You also get instructions on the two common weapons loadout on Harriers during OIF.  The instructions also includes 11 photos of the real jets.

The decals are contained on two decal sheets and include two complete set of stencils including formation lights.  I have always been deeply fascinated by the Harrier and this decal sheet does hit the spot.

Special thanks goes out to Wally Van Winkle for the great references on this sheet.

This sheet retails for $11.50 and is available through http://www.twobobs.net/ and select US Hobby Shops.  Overseas customers can purchase these from Twobobs site or through Twobobs network of overseas distributors.  Remember, shipping is always FREE to US Customers at Twobobs!!
