--------------------

This new decal sheet from Wolfpak Decals includes markings for 8 different 1/72 aircraft.  These aren't ordinary aircraft....most these are special and unique aircraft.

  • One KC-135

  • Four MC-130E

  • One T-28D

  • One A-10A

  • One F-4D

The first aircraft is a KC-135R with the 459th Air Refueling Wing out of Andrews AFB, MD with the 4th Air Force, AFRC.  The black and yellow checkered stripe on the tail harkens back to markings of the 459th bomb Group during WW2 when they flew B-24J Liberators.

The next aircraft are actually a choice of 5 different MC-130E's "Combat Talons"  with Special Operations Squadron (Special Forces).  You actually get a choice of 5 different MC-130E's including one that participated in Operation Eagle Claw (the attempted Iranian Rescue Mission).  Another of these MC-130s participated in the Son Tay Prison Raid.  Son Tay Prison was located 23 miles from Hanoi and on Nov. 21, 1970 a raid involving a variety of aircraft and Special Forces made a rescue attempt to free American POW's.  The mission involved no American deaths, but the POW's had been moved from the camp 4 months earlier, so none were freed.  Another of these MC-130E's was involved in Operation Urgent Fury (the successful rescue of American students from Grenada).

There is also a Zorro T-28D involved in a variety of Special Operations including night interdiction attacks along the Hi Chi Minh Trail.

Next there is an A-10Aassigned to the 103rd Fighter Squadron, 111th Fighter Wing Pennsylvania Air National Guard at Willow Grove Naval Air Station.  The instrictions include very detailed weapons load information from various missions these T-28D and A-10A aircraft were involved in.

Finally there is an F-4D involved in night operations as a FAC.  For this reason the aircraft was painted in SEA camo with a black bottom.  The instruction include very detailed information about outfitting the pylons on this F-4D including fuel tanks and weapons loads.

The instructions are clear and include 3 views of each aircraft.  The decals are beautifully printed by Fantasy Printshop on 1 decal sheet.  The re is also 2 pages of text instructions covering the history of each aircraft as well as weapons load and painting instructions.

It's good to see this first decal sheet from Wolfpak Decals and their focus on these significant aircraft and their historical missions.
