This resin and photos etch set from Eduard is part of the Brassin series and is available directly from Eduard Model Accessories. This set includes a Bf 109G6 engine and fuselage guns in 1/48 scale.
This resin set includes 55 resin pieces and a photo etch fret and a decal sheet. The Bf 109 used a fuel injected inverted V-12 engine and that is the main focus of this detail set along with the engine cowling guns that are mounted above the engine. The engine in this set is the Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine with 35.7 litres producing 1455 hp running on "B4" fuel with an octane rating of 87. This is basically a bored out version of the earlier DB 601 engine.
The gun compartment includes the shelf the guns sit on as well as the firewall between the cockpit and the engine compartment. You actually get 2 gun compartment shelves and you will have to decide which to use. This area is extremely well detailed with added resin and photo etch parts as well as wires.
The resin engine and engine braces connect to the firewall. The engine is loaded in detail that includes some wire you add for the plumbing. The supercharger is a separate piece in this set with plenty of detail. You also get 12 separate resin exhaust pipes along with photo etch covers to go on the topside of the exhaust pipes. Also included is the oil tank on the front side of the motors along with smaller parts to detail this area.
Also included are 4 engine cowlings, you will need to decide which 2 you choose to use.
There are 8 pages of instructions in the usual line drawing format that Eduard is famous for and which are so easy to follow. Painting instructions are also included in the instructions. The instructions show you which engine cowling panels you need to cut to fit the highly detailed engine cowlings contained in this set.
You will be required to fold the photoetch in this set, but if you have one of the Hold & Fold photo etch benders from The Small Shop, then this will be an easy process. They have a variety of benders for sharp corners as well as rounded corners and in many different sizes.
This is a wonderful detail set that really dresses up the engine and engine cowling gun compartment.
