  USMC Birthday (1775)

Here is my Monogram 1/48 scale F/A-18 Hornet. The kit was finished in Aeromaster decals for VMFA-451 Warlords. It was painted with Model Master paints in the standard dark ghost gray over light ghost gray paint scheme. It was weathered using an enamel wash.

The canopy was detailed using photo-etched parts from Eduard.

She is armed 2 AIM-9Ls on the wing tips, 2 GBU-12 LGBs on the outboard wing pylons, 2 AGM-12B Bullpups on the inboard wing pylons, FLIR and LST pods on the cheek stations, and a fuel tank on the center line pylon.

The landing gear is from a Hasegawa kit, which gave me the option to position the launch bar down. The SJU-5A ejection seat and boarding ladder are also leftovers from a Hasegawa kit.

The instrument panel was detailed using photo-etched parts from Eduard.

I hope you enjoy the article.
