Construction:
I ordered this kit some time ago from Calum along with some other kits, when the kit arrived I was pleased when I first inspected the box. But with Tamiya there is little to complain about. However I thought the cockpit could use a little enhancement. I sent an E-mail though to Craig at Aeroworks and ordered the Ultracast Seat as well as the EagleCal decals.  I started the construction with the cockpit, the cockpit was very simple but with some dry brushing you can really bring out the detail.  The cockpit was painted in Model Master enamel RLM 66 and I then used Tamiya's weathering kits to give the cockpit a little depth. This kit is quite simple to build with little fuss and minor putty, the only real problem was getting the wheel wells to fit right otherwise a great kit to build.

Paint and Decals:
Once the kit was assembled, it was time to paint. I painted most of the kit in matt white, this was to make sure that I had gotten all of the seams right before I painted the kit. The matt white brings out any imperfections on the kit allowing you to see and the fix before applying on the color scheme. The entire kit was then painted in Aluminum plate, I used Model Master enamels paints, the colours used were RLM75, RLM76, RLM81, RLM83, RLM82 and RLM70. I found that the Fw190 Blue 12 from II./JG 6 had some very unusual paint scheme especially underneath with most of the under wings been left in bear metal. This is one of the reason for choosing this particular decal scheme. Once the kit was painted in its color scheme, I airbrushed the entire kit in gloss clear ready for placing on the decals.  EagleCal decals were great to work with, using decal solution they seemed to really apply well to the kit. Once the decals were in place another cote of gloss clear was airbrushed on to seal in the decals. I then applied a wet pastel wash to the kit to bring out the panel lines. With the panel lines highlighted, I airbrushed the entire kit with matt gloss to seal in the pastel wash, I then added exhaust stains dirtied up the landing gear and wheel bays using Tamyia's weathering sets. This was sealed by applying another cote of matt clear to the desired areas to seal in the weathering sets. I just had to add a little gloss clear to the aluminum under the wings to try and give it a little more of a realistic look to the bear metal.

Finish:
With the Fw190 now painted, it was time to add the finishing touches, like landing gear, canopy and windscreen, drop tank, gun barrels etc.
