Early trainers of
the Syrian Air Force
As part of my “Syrian Air Force”
build, please enjoy these two early trainers. The L-29 is modeled after the
specific model still sitting in the Military Museum in Damascus, Syria.

The L-29 kit used was the KP (Kovozavody
Prostejov) kit in a plastic bag that I managed to get for $2.00 :o) You get what
you pay for and the fit was absolutely horrible with major gaps and parts not
aligning. In the end, I gave up on expecting a decent model and just wanted to
get done. For painting, I used Model Master Lacquer Aluminum Non-Buffing
metalizer, followed by Model Master Sealer for Metalizer, Model Master Enamel
Flat Black 1749 and Tamiya Acrylic Flat Red XF-7. This was followed by a coat of
Future then used homemade decals coated with MicroSol. Another coat of future
was followed by Pro Modeller black weathering wash and then sealed with Model
Master Acrylic Flat Clear coat.
The LH-4 Piper was also the KP (Kovozavody
Prostejov) kit and was also built straight out of the box. The kit came together
quite well but was hard due to the small size. Getting the windows to line up
properly was a challenge though. with minimal need for any filling, the joints
lined up pretty well. After sanding and priming, I used Model Master Lacquer
Aluminum Non-Buffing metalizer followed by Model Master Sealer for Metalizer.
This was then coated with Future and homemade decals applied and coated with
MicroSol. Another coat of future was followed by Pro Modeller black weathering
wash and then sealed with Model Master Acrylic Flat Clear coat.
Hope you enjoyed this and stay tuned
for more to come!!
