G'Day again from Oz,

As part of my son Chris' 1/48 Jolly Rogers collection I bought this Hasegawa F8-E (FN) Crusader with the intention of converting it back to F8-C specifications for him.  To do this I acquired a MUROC F8-C 1/2 conversion set for USD$20, Eduard cockpit P/E and intake cover, and Cutting Edge Jolly Roger Crusader decals.

The MUROC conversion is absolutely magnificent in detail and fits well if you make sure to abide by the instructions and the P/E just adds to the detail.  The larger French Navy tail planes were trimmed back and rescribed to the correct size and the double pivot leading edge slats filled on the second seem to correct them.

The model was then sprayed with Model Master Classic white, gull grey and black with Alclad burner can.  A gloss coat was then sprayed over the entire model before decalling with the Cutting Edge decals which were terrific.  The only down side to them was the lack of USS INDEPENDENCE decals to go on the rear fuselage above the Navy.  Some minor stencils from the kit decal sheet was used but the majority were the wrong color so not used.  I then used an acrylic wash to finish off before adding all the little pieces.

All in all I highly recommend the MUROC conversion and Cutting Edge decals as well as the Hasegawa kit which goes together so well.   When Chris' collection is complete we'll post images of the entire lot.
