This is a 1/48th scale ICM Mustang IV that I recently completed. The construction of the cockpit was straight-forward, although I did add some tape seat belts to the seat itself. Also, the canopy frame cross-member in the kit broke so I fabricated a new one from sheet stock, drilled holes in it and then installed it. Also, since these Mustang IV's had the louvre nose vent, instead of the perforated nose vents, I made new ones from sheet stock and installed them.

Assembly of the model was relatively simple although there were a fair amount of the typical ICM sink-marks to contend with. The plane was painted in the ANA equivalents for the RAF day-fighter scheme using Olive Drab, Gunship Gray and Light Gull Gray. The Sky Band was also painted, instead of using a decal. The panel lines and rivets were drawn with a Micron Ink Pen and then the panel lines were shaded with an airbrushed application of Tamiya Smoke.

Some slight metal chipping was added along with various fluid leaks, exhaust stains and gun blast residue. Aeromaster decals were used to depict a RCAF Mustang IV (P-51K) from 442 Squadron, "The Caribous". The plane depicted is the "Edmonton Special" which participated in the raid against the Channel Islands after VE-Day. This was a very fun build and the ICM kit builds up into a nice representation of the famed P-51 Mustang. Best wishes!!!!
