India Independence Day

For any Indian Scale Modeller building a MiG 21 kit is special feeling and honor. Though this my 5th kit submission on ARC but I am posting here after a break of 6 years. I must thank my fellow modellers at Indian Scale Modellers for pushing me get into Modelling mode again.

As you build this kit, you appreciate what a beauty MiG 21 was which makes this build a really special one. I have used the Academy kit which comes with Indian Air Force decals. Aircraft depicted here MiG 21 Bis of the 26 Squadron "The Warriors".

I have build this kit completely OOB with no after market items. Building this kit was very easy with hardly any fit issues. I lost the original canopy during the build and hence I have used Eduard kit canopy as replacement. Hence canopy fit might not look that great. Though this is my 5th kit, there are lot of first time methods and techniques I have used. Since I don't own airbrush compressor setup, I used Tamiya Spray Can to complete this aircraft painting. For small sections I used Humbrol paints. Weathering is something I have done for the first time too. A simple panel wash at the end to enhance the panel lines. I would suggest using after market decals as the ones that came with kit started peeling off after a month even after a coat of clear was applied.

This kit is part of Indian Independence Day 2014 Group Build by Indian Scale Modellers. I really enjoyed building this kit and I took maximum time to finish it as I said before MiG 21 will always be special kit for any scale modeller not just from India but around the world. Hope you all liked the kit.
