Hello fellow modelers. Here is my Su-27 Flanker in 1/32 scale from Trumpeter which is the 1st completed 1/32 model in past 10 years. It took me 6 years (of my spare, and in the mood, time) to finish this huge model kit. As this big bird has been around for many years, most of us may have heard about how “challenging” this model is, so I would skip the detail of kit building process. All I can tell is I used much.. much.. of patience, as well as some of Gordon Ramsey’s language, during making of this big stubborn bird.

Initially I intended to build the kit straight from the box then Black Box and Aires launched the excellent cockpit detail set and the latter also released very realistically nice exhaust nozzle set. I just couldn’t resist when saw the ads and decided to buy both of them. Later on I choose Aires cockpit set because I personally liked Aires’s ejection seat more than Black Box’s seat. The transplant surgery went on with little problem and I have no regret for putting more work and effort into the construction of this model as the final result is nothing but awesome!

All colours applied on this big comrade bird were mixed up to my feeling of satisfaction. Normally I’m not a serious modeler, I make models for fun, for releasing my stress from the headache routine work. It takes me to another dimension, like entering into the “Matrix” world. Therefore I’m not quite serious about the authenticity of colour tone as well, just make it as you like it to be. Do anything you want to make yourself happy, right my friends?

After painting process has been done, it’s time to put identity to the big Flankerskiy Falcon. I used decals from Linden hill’s VVS “cobra tail” marking. Lots of tiny stencil were provided. It took me another week for decaling. Weathering is kept to minimum (I supposed ?).

My next 1/32 project is SU-30 also from Trumpeter. I hope that the assembly problem, particularly fitting of the parts, will be less for this newer kit. If so, it will take me less than half of time I spent on this SU-27.

Until then, happy modeling to you all.
