The L188 is Lockheed Aircraft's response to the British Vickers Viscount success in the US domestic network during late fifties.  But its production remained relatively small, mainly due to its arrival on the market occurred at the same time as new transcontinental jets.

Although its Maritime Patrol derivative, the constantly upgraded P3 Orion continues to operate in many naval forces of the world, very few were still recently operated by airlines as freighters. One of the last airlines (if not the last one) to carry passengers with Electras in regular public transport up to early 1990s was Brazilian flag carrier Varig, in shuttle service between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.  

Here is the Minicraft injected kit with a Welsh Models more accurate vacform fuselage, and the beautiful Varig livery by FCM decals from Brazil.
