1/48 Tamiya P-47D Razorback

This is my first submission to ARC and I thought I would show my Tamiya P-47D. I built the kit out of the box with the exception of Waldron buckles in the cockpit. The model was painted with Model Master paints. This was the first time that I used an oil wash and am very satisfied with the end result. I used the the kit supplied decals to represent Lt. Frank Klibbe's plane. In true Tamiya fashion they were thick and took alot to get them snuggle down. To simulate the chipped paint I used a Primsacolor silver pencil with very favourable results. As far as the kit building all I can say is that it was very nicely molded and went together with ease.

During the shooting of some of the photos the "Jug" took flight and crashed into the pavement.

Needless to say I had some repairs that had to be made. The pictures of "Little Chief" sitting on the base is as she looks today after all repairs had been made, and I am hoping to show her in a contest in the near future.

As far as the base goes it is my first attempt at building a base from scratch and I think that it turned out fairly well. I simulated the concrete, with, well concrete. I used a powder mortar and painted it. The tar in the expansion joints is made from acrylic tube paint applied through a syringe. Hope everyone enjoys this article and hopefully I will be submitting more in the near future.
