P-38J-25 44-23675 485th FS,
370FG
Pilot Maj.Paul Sabo
He is officially credited with
1.333 kills by the Air Force. He never got offical credit for all the kills he
claimed.
All sources I have have state this
serial number. But when checking photos of this aircraft I noticed it had the
landing light in the leading edge of the wing like the L model would have.
After looking up the serial number I found that is was in the last 100 J-25's
built. So my guess is that production had made some changes to the line before
they changed the designation to L.
BUILDER:
Brian Acker

together great, with just a slight gap in the wing/fuselage joint. The

of the 362 FS, in the famous 357th FG. |

KIT: 1/48 Tamiya P-47D Thunderbolt
DETAILS: The kit is the Tamiya P-47D and the decals are a
mix of kit markings and Cutting Edge sheet 48-232 "Big Beautiful Jugs
Part 2"
The finish is alclad II
Polished Aluminum with some areas picked out with duraluminum. I used
Folquil Bright Silver for the gear struts and drop tank for variation.
This aircraft, Rozzie Geth II/Miss Fire, was flown by Capt. Fred J
"Chris" Christensen Jr. while attached to the 62nd FS / 56th FG.
Fred ended the war with 21.5 kills and flew 107 missions. He is currently
the highest scoring living U.S. Ace. He became famous for downing six
enemy in one encounter, a feat equalled in the ETO only by George Preddy. |
