This is the very old
pro-modeller kit from Monogram. In it's time it was the definitive kit -
oh how times have changed. Nothing fit, the weight of this kit has more
than tripled due to putty - but.... I loved building it, we can always use a bit
of a challenge to keep the old eye in. Anyway besides the difficult fit -
especially the wings - the cockpit required much attention. There is very
little detail and there was much adding-on here. The semi-rounded windows at the
rear, needed much Micro-sol to build up the glass to fit the fuselage.
I used Aeromaster's
excellent Warbird acrylics over-all and Alclad II on the drop tanks. Also from
Aeromaster, I used the decal sheet depicting Captain David "Tex"
Hill's kite.

Weathering and
detailing was accomplished with artist oils and artists pigments from Dala.
I built this kit for the current PACAIR group build - and if you'd like to see
some awesomely good building - go and check out the gallery so far.
