1/72 Kopro MiG-21R

--------------------

The kit is a KOPRO MiG-21R in new box, but mostly made with the old tool of the KP MiG-21MF. This creates some additional work mostly on fuselage. The detailing of the smaller parts like the under-carriage is not the best. This goes also for the weapons. I replaced the AA-2 Atoll missile  with another spare from a weapon kit. The new parts necessary for this variant (the K recon container, the wingtip and so on) are however new and more detailed.  The decal sheet is also new and it also contains the markings for ex-Yugoslav air force. I only had to make the serial I needed for this plane.

The reason for choosing this example was an article somewhere about his history. It was written that the pilot deserted with his plane to Austria and landed at Salzburg international airport before the Austrian Air Force intercepted him. The story is remarkable even if it is not true. One thing seems to be sure: the plane is now located in the museum in Vienna.

As result, its sure that the dimension- and form-accuracy of the kit is not so bad as it seems at the first look, and the price speaks for itself. With a little effort, you can have a very interesting model.
