The Academy's 1/48 scale Mirage 3C
in the Israeli Air Force version was a fun kit to build, although the kit came
with sparsely detailed cockpit and wheel wells the parts however generally
fit well, I had to cut out the factory molded exhaust as this was inaccurate and
scratch build the exhaust vanes using pieces of 1/16" gauge cardboard. The
hydraulics and attachments where also scratchbuilt using spue from the kit.
Paints used were air brushed tamiya paints and the decals were out of the box. I
still am an amateur in the area of painting and scratch building but enjoyed the
learning experiences that goes with building a kit like this.

Model tools and
paints are very scarce here in this part of our country, the Philippines, and if
available they are very expensive, that's why I had to innovate using common
enamel paints for tinting the scale enamel. The colors came out, but not really
as well as the actual scale model enamels available in the big cities.
It took me a month
to build this kit using the pictures I downloaded from ARC to help me with the
details and most importantly the building tips, Thank you ARC and more power!!
