No collection
of Vietnam-era US aircraft is complete without the A-1H - coined by pilots as
the "Spad", "Able Dog", "Sandy" or
"AD". Tamiya's kit is by far the most accurate representation
of the A-1H. The kit is typical high-quality Tamiya and everything
fit together very well. I decided to complete my "Spad" in
typical SEA camouflage with Eagle Strike decals. My A-1H represents
"The Good Buddha" SN#34609 with the 1st Special Operations Squadron,
56th Special Operations Wing based at Nakhon Phanom in 1968.

Paints were a
mixture of Model Master, Floquil and Tamiya. Weathering was performed by
applying pre-shading, various shades and tints of the SEA camouflage, oils
and pastels. In summary, this kit was a joy to build. Perhaps I'll
build the US Navy version in the future.
Thanks to all
modelers for their submissions to ARC! The submissions provide a wealth of
information on different modeling techniques.
