My recently completed 1/48 scale
Revell / Monogram F-89C Scorpion built straight OOB. Kit # 4825. The Scorpion
was done in a BMF using a combination of Floquil Old Silver, Platinum Mist and
MM Bare Metal Aluminum to accent the panels on the wings. Clear coated with
Floquil Crystal Cote. The markings are for an aircraft of the 57th Fighter
Interceptor Squadron, Presque Isle, Maine.

F-89C-30-NO,
51-5777. The markings are the kit markings and not an aftermarket decal.
The tip
tank fins have to be made from plastic card stock as the " C " model
had the tank fins which are not included in the kit. I used the outline of a
tank fin from a 1/48 F-104 Starfighter as a pattern. A perfect size.
When
building this model you have to make sure that you get rid of the underwing
pylons as the "C" model did not have them. No major fit problems,
some seam filling, and a lot of polishing of the plastic to smooth it out
in order for the BMF to look just right. I chose to use the Floquil because I
wanted a subdued BMF and not a high shine on this particular one.
