The basement at BAD Productions hasn't seen this kind of activity in years (new job, new house, new schools... you get the idea) but there has been a bit of rivalry lately to actually finish some projects so we could have a valid reason to attend this spring's contest circuit.  1st out of the gates was the Central Maine Modeler's show in Lincoln ME.  My youngest had two finished but made others plans, so it looked like we wouldn't go.  His brother decided to pull a rabbit from a Burago box and finish a Porsche, so we're on for a road trip... but this jet needs to be completed too....

The kit came from a London, Canada IPMS clearance table, at 3.00 and of questionable accuracy (actually, there is no question... 1- there is no Su-21F & 2- its not a very good Su-15F if you look down the nose) I wasn't going to invest any time or money ..... and then Ken Duffy came into my life (well, I found his website & reviews http://www.lindenhillimports.com/duffey.htm ) with his tours & photos of Russian aircraft like the Su-15 ( http://www.lindenhillimports.com/Su-15.htm ) The one that caught my eye was an Su-15TM that looked destined to have a museum display built around it someday... I can do that on the cheap, leftover trophy, foam tray from a steak dinner, dirt & rock from the drive & a kit that might look like a Su-15TM with a bit of love....

I like the canopy, thick but clear, and the wheel chocks were borrowed from another diorama (already finished) everything else was a pain in the b*tt. Natural metal (rusted and corroded a bit) means no putty, so I lined all the seams with plastic stock (this made the fuselage fit the canopy too) letting it stick out just a smidge... polished out just fine. No detail in wheel wells, as the plane would be fixed to the base, but filled the cockpit void! Plugs for the intakes & exhausts, a few drop clothes for the photographer and it was done (about 4 hours after Ben finished his Porsche !)

Despite a nasty storm, we made the trip to Lincoln ( and the lads of CMM showed wonderful hospitality and a great selection of models ) Ben & I both brought home prizes. With Shearwater NS, Fredericton NB & St John's Nfld as contests on the horizon in April & May activity down in the basement at BAD Productions is still in high gear.
