This is my 1/48
AMT/ESCI S-3B Viking kit. The kit I used was actually the ES-3
version, but I used parts from another old S-3A kit I had (Wing and
canopy). I closed up all the weapons bay doors and the FLIR(?) pod
door. These doors did not fit that great and some extra filling work
was needed. Other than that, there were no other problems with the
kit.
I used Steel Beach FOD
covers on the engines, and these were a little tricky to get to sit right
because of the shape of the inlet. They are still allot less work
than trying to fill and sand the seams on the inside of the intakes
though.

I used
Aeromaster decals for VS-21 CAG, and the aircraft stencils. No
problems putting them on. It took me a full day to apply the tail
decal, and to get it to conform. LOTS of MicroSol was used on this one.
The resin base is from Just
Plane Stuff. The figures and tractors are from Verlinden and
Hasegawa.
Overall this is still a
nice model and builds into a nice model with a little work. I would like
to thank Bill Suggs for his help with reference photos and other
information on this aircraft. Thanks Bill!
