1/72 Italeri H-19 B "Chickasaw" Kit # 1206

This model happens to be my first build of a Helicopter.  It was completed in 2006.  I never had an inclination to build a Helo model, but my interest was tweaked when I was watching the movie " Strategic Air Command ".  One scene showed an Air Force H-19 B that was going on the rescue mission looking for the crashed B-36 in Thule Greenland.  Realizing that I never did see one of these birds in the IPMS contest I enter every year in my area, I figured I would tackle one.

The model is done with the kit markings of the U.S. Air Force Rescue Service, 1957.  The BM finish was done with a combination of Floquil Platinum Mist and Old Silver.  The wide and narrow Yellow bands are taped and painted, which took some time.  I did not like the shade of the kit markings for the bands.  The narrow black trim is the kit decal.  Nice fit of all the parts, very little seam filling, but a little time consuming putting the rotor head together.  Take care in doing that.  Great clear pieces and fit is right on the money.  Careful with the landing legs.  I was really happy with this build as it took first place in the Helo category in the 06 IPMS contest in my area.  Makes me want to do another Chopper.
