Here is the
unusual scaled Fokker S-11. The type was developed in the late forties to
put Fokker Aircraft on the map again after the Second World War. The
equipment was basic, but in terms of design and flight characteristics it
was an excellent aircraft. Some 100 were built by Fokker Aircraft.
A
further 150 were license built by Macchi in Italy and yet another 100
by Fokker Industria Aeronautica in Brazil.
The type was
in use from 1950 to 1970 in the Royal Netherlands Air Force (KLu). Still
four S-11's are flying displays in the Fokker Four team and several other
survive in museums.

The kit itself
consists of some 20 parts. Rivet counters will have a field day since they
are really prominent. However, believe it or not, it is actually quite
close to the real thing.
I decided to
spice up the little craft a bit since it was so devoid of details, so I
-
removed
the deck behind the seats, since it should be open
-
added
soldered tubular structure behind the seats
-
added
tubular structure on the cockpit walls
-
filed
out the wings were lenses were added (made of a CD-case cover)
-
filed
out air intakes on the nose
-
added
throttle, center console, handholds on fuselage and canopy.
Painting was
done with my Badger 200 airbrush. I started out with white primer, since
it brightens the yellow coat. Furthermore dayglo on wing tips,
tail and engine cover. Finally the excellent and very thin decals
were added and there you are!
