As
always, it is a pleasure to build a Hasegawa kitaHa.
Nice quality & assembly. In this case, my mother-in-law who lives in
another city pays us visits around 3 times a year. That means a new kit to
my stock every time! Naturally, she is not aware of any – really – any issue
regarding a kit. So, every time, I get to be surprised by her choices…
which have been really great. This “Jack” was one of them.
At first, a difficult to believe shaped aircraft; my wife regarded it as a
cartoon airplane. The roomy cockpit gives a lot of visibility to detail.
So, for the record, I went through the internet to get some pictures of
it. Building was straight forward with no major events through it. No
filling was needed besides sanding was kept to a minimum.

I
only want to note that the decals a pretty thick; they had to spend a
while in water before starting to slide on the base paper. Once set,
it took a while to have them fixed & set, but with the help of Decal
Set solution their thickness became less noticeable. I did perform
some paint mixes, especially, regarding the spinner & the yellow stripe
on the leading edge. I have to confess that that last particular
item on Japanese aircraft really annoys me through painting. Now,
weathering on these aircraft seems to be an issue, so I went through it
based on some logical conclusions & taken away by some artistic
license. Though not evident in the pictures, but I did strike the whole
airplane simulating striking pebbles effect. The shades were
performed with the Tamiya weathering set – what a great buy!
At
the end, it is a great addition to my renewed growing collection. Thanks
to my mother-in-law who is always thinking of me!! To all of you guys,
hope you had enjoyed. Greetings from Mexico City .
Cheers!!
Federico
